Medgate: medical helpline
CHIS Members have access to Medgate, one of the European leaders in the field of telemedicine, which enables you to consult a healthcare provider remotely via a simple phone call or through the Medgate mobile app.
If you need a consultation with a healthcare professional, Medgate provides 24/7 access by phone or via the Medgate app. During the tele-consultation, Medgate staff will assess the severity of your health situation and advise you on the next steps to take.
- If your medical situation requires medication, Medgate staff will indicate the closest, open pharmacy in Switzerland or neighbouring France. If a prescription is needed, they can also send it directly to the pharmacy.
- Medgate staff will inform you if an in-person consultation is necessary and will guide you to the nearest doctor on call or available healthcare provider.
- If Medgate staff assess your situation as requiring immediate, life-saving treatment, they will organise emergency assistance. While waiting for professional medical help, Medgate will provide you with over-the-phone instructions to deliver efficient first aid, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Medgate operates mainly in Switzerland, but their services are also available in France, subject to certain legal restrictions (in particular, on sending prescriptions to pharmacies and making referrals to healthcare providers).
In the event of a life-threatening emergency, always call the local or national emergency services immediately.

If you need medication, Medgate will let you know the nearest open pharmacy and may even be able to forward your prescription to it. If you need to consult a doctor in person, Medgate will tell you the nearest doctor on call or open health centre.
